The Middlesex High School boys cross-country team finished 13th in the State Group A Meet at Great Meadows in Warrenton last Saturday.
MHS was paced by two-time Tidewater District and Region A champion Ridge Ellis, who finished 24th overall with a time of 17:30.
Coach Johann Odom noted Ellis was in 15th place when he slipped and fell on the course. “Ridge was on his way to making All-State (top 15 runners) when his spikes got caught in something and threw him to the ground,” said Odom.
Malik Green ran a personal best time of 20:13 to take 84th place. He was Middlesex’s second top runner. Patrick Perry was the Chargers’ third finisher with a 92nd finish in 20:48.
Jacob Self was 95th with a time of 20:57, and Kyle Forst was the Chargers’ fifth runner at 96th with a time of 20:58.
The five MHS runners registered 381 points to place 13th as a team
Mathews High School was the top Region A boys team at the meet. The Blue Devils finished 9th overall; Washington & Lee was 10th; and Lancaster was 11th.
