MHS girls unbeaten

The Middlesex High varsity volleyball team is off to a 3-0 start with wins over Northern Neck District foes Rappahannock, Northumberland and Lancaster.

The Lady Chargers opened the season defeating host Rappahannock in four games on August 21. Middlesex won the first game 25-19, lost the second game 25-19, then rebounded to win the next two games, 25-20 and 25-20.

Middlesex served 88% as a team. Elizabeth Ketner led the team serving 94% with 2 aces and also had 16 digs on defense.

Middlesex swept visiting Northumberland in three games 25-17, 25-14 and 25-20 on August 23.

The Lady Chargers served 91% as a team and recorded 32 kills and 31 digs on defense.

On August 27, Middlesex defeated visiting Lancaster in four games. Lancaster won the second game 25-23, and Middlesex won the other three 25-16, 25-14 and 25-22.

Laura Walton led the Lady Chargers, serving 88% with 10 aces, and adding 8 digs, 6 kills and 12 assists.

The MHS volleyball teams play at Washington and Lee on Thursday, August 30. They are at Northumberland on Tuesday, September 4, and host King William on Thursday, September 6. The JV plays at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity plays at 7 p.m.
