MHS girls Senior Night is Tuesday

A late rally by the Middlesex High girls varsity basketball team fell short in a 36-30 loss at Mathews on February 4.

The aggressive Mathews defense held Middlesex to 3 points in the first quarter and led 19-11 at the half.

Amanda Brown led the Lady Chargers in scoring with 10 points. Brianna Brooks and Jasmine Fells each added 6 points. Micah Reed was held to 5 points, and Megan Payne added 3 points.

On Friday, February 12, at 6 p.m. the Lady Chargers (2-4, 8-8) will host King and Queen.

The Middlesex High varsity girls basketball game against King and Queen, originally set for Friday, February 12, has been rescheduled to Tuesday, February 16, at 6 p.m. in the MHS gym.

It will be the last game of the regular season and Senior Night. Only the varsity will play.

The final game of the regular season will be on Monday, February 15, at West Point. The JV game is at 6 p.m. and varsity game at 7:30 p.m.

As of Tuesday, the Lady Chargers, who are in third place, are scheduled to play on the home court of the number two seed on Wednesday, February 17, at 7 p.m. in the semifinals of the district tournament. (The final standings and seeds will not be determined until after the season ends on Monday.)

The tournament championship game will be at King William on Friday, February 19, at 6 p.m. The boys district tournament championship game follows at 8 p.m.

All schedules are subject to change due to weather.
