MHS girls rout Charles City; fall to KW

The Middlesex Lady Chargers varsity softball team split a pair of Conference 42 games this week. They defeated Charles City 22-4 on May 8, and lost 13-0 to King William on May 13.

Against visiting Charles City, the Lady Chargers benefited from walks and errors. Lady Charger Kaitlyn Weber hurled a one-hitter and struck out 7 Lady Panthers. Weber is 4-2 in Conference 42 play.

At the plate, Avis Keeling and Quinlan Moore each homered; Weber tripled; Shelby Lewter and Tambria Wake each doubled; and Austen Taylor Dozier, Rachael Howard, and Cheyenne Pullman each singled.

The Lady Chargers gave up 8 runs to King William in the first inning on May 13 and struggled at the plate.

Lead-off batter Avis Keeling got the only hit for Middlesex in the first inning. She also reached on an error in the third.

The Lady Chargers are at King William on Monday, May 19, at 5 p.m. for a make-up game. MHS will host Mathews on Friday, May 23, at 7 p.m. in its regular season finale.
