MHS girls host K&Q in home finale Tuesday

West Point, undefeated in the Tidewater District, handed the Middlesex High varsity girls basketball team a 46-28 loss on January 21 at MHS.
The Lady Chargers stayed with West Point in the first half, and trailed by only 12-10 after the first quarter and 21-16 at the half.
The Lady Pointers shut down Middlesex in the third quarter, outscoring them 9-3, and then posted a 16-9 margin in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
Micah Reed led Lady Chargers with 12 points, Megan Payne had 5, Amanda Brown and Jasmine Fells each had 4, and Raquel Pierce 3.
At the foul line, Middlesex made 7 of 12 free throws to keep pace with West Point, which was 7 of 13 at the line
Middlesex slipped to 2-2 in district play and 8-6 overall.
The MHS girls also suffered a 77-34 non-district loss to Lancaster on January 19.
The Lady Chargers are at King William on Friday, January 29. They host King and Queen on Tuesday, February 2; travel to Mathews on Thursday, February 4; and complete their regular season at West Point on February 9.
The JV games are at 6 p.m. and the varsity plays at 7:30 p.m.
