MHS cagers rout CCHS; to host Tigers Monday

The Middlesex High boys varsity basketball had three players score in double figures en route to a 61-46 win over Chesterfield Community High School at MHS in Saluda on December 20.

Marquez Holmes tallied 17 points, Brett Carter had 15 and Jacob Self 12 to lead the Chargers to a third straight win.

Kaleb Wake added 9 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals; DeAngelo King added 3 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists; Zebulon Burrell had 2 points and 3 steals; Andre Campbell contributed 2 points and 2 steals; and Shakeim Paige added 2 points and 3 rebounds.

Holmes also had 3 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 assists; Carter had a team-high 6 steals; and Self pulled down 5 rebounds.

The Chargers shot 37% from the field and 58% from the free throw line. They committed 16 turnovers and had 19 steals.

Middlesex (3-4) will host King and Queen on Monday, January 6, in a Tidewater District game that was originally scheduled for January 3. On Friday, January 10, the Chargers will play Charles City at home. JV games begin at 6 p.m. and are followed by varsity games at 7:30 p.m.
