Mathews took advantage of 2 Middlesex errors in the first inning to score 3 runs en route to a 7-1 Tidewater District win Friday evening in Mathews.

The Chargers (2-2, 4-5) could manage only 2 hits in the game—a double apiece by Chris Blake and Jeremy Collier.

“We just didn’t come out swingin the bat,” said Charger coach Timmy Blake.

Middlesex will host Mathews this Friday, May 3, at 7 p.m. at Deltaville Ballpark. The JV teams play at 5 p.m.

The Chargers will visit King William on Tuesday, May 7.

The West Point at Middlesex game scheduled for April 30 was postponed due to rain. It will be played on Wednesday, May 15.
