Mathews nips Chargers 12-10

The Middlesex High School Chargers football team finished off its 2018 gridiron season Wednesday, October 31, with a 12-10 loss to the Mathews Blue Devils. 

Snyder completed 11 passes in 24 attempts, for 161 yards. Wyatt Brown caught 4 passes for 76 yards, averaging 19 yards a catch. Wells had 4 catches for 36 yards and Ryan Smith caught a pass for 17 yards.

Smith led the Chargers on the ground with 51 yards on 12 carries, and Snyder had 28 yards on 18 carries. Johnson paced the Blue Devils with 102 yards rushing on 10 carries.

On defense, Cole Ruark paced the Chargers with 8 solo tackles. Landon Norwood had 5 solos; Smith, 3 solos; Brown, Wells, and Andrew Jenkins, 2 solos each; and Matt Hart, Jordan Millen, Neaven Johannson, Joe Gardner and Jordan Bushong had a solo tackle apiece. 

Snyder punted 4 times for 102 yards, averaging 25.5 yards a kick. Hart had 3 punt returns for 10 yards and a kickoff return for 22 yards. Wells had a kickoff return for 13 yards and Brown had one for 12 yards.

The Chargers ended their season with a 2-7 record.
