The Middlesex High varsity volleyball team defeated Lancaster in three games, 25-16, 25-22 and 25-17, on September 3, and also defeated Rappahannock last week.

The wins improved the Lady Chargers’ record to 3-1, and appear to have boosted their confidence.

“We are becoming a lot more consistent in our serving, passing and hitting,” said MHS coach Jennifer Harrow. “Game play is running more smoothly with stronger passing and less untouched balls. The team seems to be more confident in their skills and working well as a team.”

Chelsi Blake and Jillien Puster are again leading the Lady Chargers in kills. Blake added 13 kills to her tally, with an ace and a dig against Lancaster.

Puster had 12 kills with 17 assists and 2 digs.

Kelsey Hainley is racking up points at the service line, including 4 aces against Lancaster.

Hayley Guess had 2 aces, 2 digs, 4 kills and a block against LHS. Maggie Hall had 6 digs, an assist and a kill.

Also for the Lady Chargers, Raquel Pierce, 4 digs; Chelsea Lewter 7 digs, 1 ace; Ashley Williams, 1 dig, 1 kill; Caroline Davis, 1 dig; and Ivy Perkins, 2 assists.

The Lady Chargers will host Washington & Lee on Thursday, September 10, and will host Essex on Tuesday, September 15. Junior varsity games start at 6 p.m. and are followed by varsity games.
