Lady Chargers host West Point Friday

The Middlesex girls varsity basketball team fell to Mathews 55-46 on January 12.
“It was a well played game throughout,” said Middlesex head coach Neil Wake.
The game was back and forth all night until the Blue Devils pulled away down the stretch.
No longer sidelined by an injury, Lady Charger Megan Payne continued to work her way back into form in her third game this season. M. Payne fouled out early in the fourth quarter with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Brittin Payne led the Lady Chargers with 13 points and 8 rebounds.
Also for Middlesex, Grace Rutkowski had 6 points and 5 rebounds; Felicia Marsh, 5 points, 4 rebounds; Bridgette Self, 4 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists; Joey Stinchcomb, 3 points, 4 rebounds; and Nila Robinson and Jessica Dixon, 2 points apiece.
The Lady Chargers are 2-1 in Tidewater District play and 3-8 overall going into the home stretch.
Middlesex visited Lancaster on Tuesday, January 17, hosted Northumberland on Wednesday, January 18, and will host district foe West Point on Thursday, January 19, before taking a break.
The schedule picks up on Friday, January 27, at King William. The Lady Chargers’ last home game, which is Senior Night, is Monday, January 30, against King and Queen.
JV games are at 6 p.m. and are followed by varsity games at 7:30 p.m.
