Lady Chargers host Lancaster Friday
by Tom Chillemi
New players, fresh attitudes and raw talent abounds as the Middlesex High School varsity softball team prepares for the upcoming season.
The Lady Chargers have practiced through the coldest preseason in memory, said Wade Traynham, now in his 12th year as the head coach of the Lady Chargers. “We must continue to practice and work smart every day to be competitive in the Tidewater District.”
One standout returning to the Lady Chargers is junior Quinlan Moore at shortstop. “She has upped her high level of play another notch” thanks to a rigorous off-season workout program and playing in travel ball tournaments, said Traynham.
Last year, Moore made second team All-District and hit .333 overall.
The Lady Chargers will host Lancaster on Friday, March 15, at 7 p.m., and Rappahannock on Thursday, March 21, at 5 p.m. Both games are at MHS in Saluda.
