Missy Hall, Rebecca Walker and Olivia Cloud all ran strong at the State Group A cross-country meet at Warrenton Saturday to lead the Middlesex High girls team to an impressive seventh place finish.
MHS coach Bill Murray said the weather was dismal and the course conditions were wet and slippery at Great Meadows Park and this slowed runners.
Hall, who finished fifth in the state last year as a freshman, finished 19th overall with a time of 21:26. Walker was 26th overall (21:52) and Cloud was 33rd (22:08). Hall, Walker and Cloud all will return next year for the Lady Chargers.
Senior Stephanie Hutton ran her last race for the Lady Chargers finishing 49th (23:45); senior Lindsay Harrow was 52nd (23:48); Lauren Beebe, 81st, (26:00); and Shannon Bristow, 106th (29:20).
In the team competition, Middlesex and Lancaster, the top two teams in Region A, were once again neck-and-neck. The Lady Chargers nipped the 8th-place Lady Red Devils 162-165.

George Mason won the team competition with 62 points; Strasburg, second, 94 points; Radford, third, 97 points; Clarke County, fourth, 136 points; Patrick Henry, fifth, 144 points; Page County, sixth, 149 points; Middlesex, seventh, 162; Lancaster, eighth, 165; John S.
