Lady Charger booters host Lancaster Friday

by Tom Chillemi

Despite two recent losses, skills are improving for the Middlesex girls varsity soccer team, which is in a rebuilding year, said MHS coach Eric Smith.

The Lady Chargers stayed with W&L for the first half of the May 22 game. “We knew this would be a difficult game because of the depth of their team,” said Smith. “From the beginning we knew we had progressed this season as the game was very balanced the whole first half.”

W&L led 1-0 at the half. Middlesex started the second half strong, but fatigue caused a couple of mistakes and W&L got three more goals en route to a 4-0 win.

“Our offense and defense played very well and it was really good to see how far we have come this year,” said Smith. “Annabelle Hall played very well this game at goal and recorded 10 saves.”

The Lady Chargers will host Lancaster on Friday, May 3, at 5:30 p.m. They will be at Essex on Monday, May 6, at 7 p.m., and will host Northumberland on Wednesday, May 8, at 6 p.m.
