Lady Cavs eliminate MHS girls

The Middlesex High varsity softball team lost 9-0 at top-seeded King William in the Tidewater District tournament semifinals on Tuesday. Beth Eanes and Tambria Wake got the only hits for the Lady Chargers.

After giving up 5 runs in the first inning, the Lady Chargers held King William to 4 runs the rest of the game. Ashley Walton started for Middlesex and was relieved by Kaitlyn Weber, who stuck out five.

In the other semifinal, Mathews nipped West Point 7-6.

The Lady Chargers (3-6) could still qualify for the Division 1 Region A Tournament depending on the outcome of other district tournament games.

On Friday, Middlesex lost to King William 10-0 in the final game of the regular season. The only Middlesex base runner was Avis Keeling, who reached on a walk.
