Kirby sweeps the field; Wills finishes 5th
On November 3, Brooke Kirby, riding “Rhett, Gone With The Wind,” won the championship of the short/-long Stirrup Equitation Division at Stonehouse Stables during her first of five shows in the winter show series.
Kirby took first place in the under saddle class, and also in both over-fences classes riding in a highly competitive field of eight riders.
Kirby also took first place in the fun class stick-horse race. This award is based on creative design and overall performance of the stick horse and rider.
Kirby, of Water View, rides under the instruction of Janet Kirby and Jameson Crandall. She is a sixth-grader at St. Clare Walker Middle School and also participates in the Jacob’s Ladder Enrichment Program.
She is the daughter of Lori Seawell and David Kirby.
In other riding news, on November 3, Kayla Wills, riding “Rhett, Gone With The Wind,” took fifth place in the under-saddle class in the pre-short Stirrup Equitation Division at Stonehouse Stables in the first of her five shows in the winter show series. Wills was judged on walk and 2-point in her class. Wills is in her first year of showing.
Wills, of Locust Hill, rides under the instruction of Janet Kirby. She is in kindergarten at Middlesex Elementary School and is the daughter of Emily and William Wills.
