The Middlesex High JV baseball team upped its overall record to 7-1 with a 10-0 mercy rule victory over Mathews last week and remained undefeated in Tidewater District play.

Kevin Walsh was the winning pitcher. He pitched a complete game 5-inning one-hitter with 12 strikeouts. “We came out and played a great game,” said MHS coach Jonathan Norris. “I was very happy with the way we played, especially since it was the first time we had gotten to see live pitching in a couple of weeks.”

Shane Bristow and John Purcell paced the JV Chargers at the plate.  Bristow had 3 singles and an RBI, and Purcell had a single and a double— the only extra base hit for the Chargers.

Stone Shores added a single and RBI; Drew Pitts and Morgan Thomas each singled and drove in a run; and K. Walsh had a single.

MHS will travel to Colonial Beach on Thursday, April 30, and will host district foe King William on Tuesday, May 5.
