JV Lady Chargers improve to 8-2
With a 31-21 Tidewater District win at King William on Friday, the Middlesex High JV girls basketball team improved to 3-1 in the Tidewater District and 8-2 overall.
The JV Lady Chargers are scheduled to be at Mathews tonight, February 4, at 6 p.m and at West Point on Tuesday, February 9, in their final game of the season.
JV Lady Charger coach Benny Burrell said his team is looking to edge or tie Mathews for the district title. (There are no playoffs for JV titles.)
Mathews soundly defeated Middlesex on January 14, which has been the Lady Chargers’ only district loss of the season.
In the win over King William on Friday, Brittin Payne led the Lady Chargers with 10 points, Joey Stinchcomb had 8, Heather Blankenship 6, Nila Robinson 3, and Jessica Dixon and Bridgette Self 2 apiece.
The JV Lady Chargers only have a 12-game season due to traveling issues and the fact some schools do not field JV teams.
JV games begin at 6 p.m. and are followed by varsity games at 7:30 p.m.
