JV Lady Chargers improve mark to 7-4

The Middlesex High JV girls basketball team opened the Tidewater District season with a 36-30 win over King William on January 3.

Middlesex built a 16-point lead in the third quarter and MHS coach Michael Lewis Sr. substituted freely and switched to zone defense in the fourth quarter. King William pressed and narrowed the score to 22-17 as the final quarter began but could not overtake the JV Lady Chargers.

The Middlesex girls will host Mathews on Thursday, January 10, and will host King William on Tuesday, January 15.

JV games are at 6 p.m. and varsity games at 7:30 p.m.
