JV Lady Chargers hand LHS first loss

Middlesex JV guard Jessica Dixon pushes the ball upcourt in last week’s win over Lancaster.
The Middlesex High JV Lady Chargers basketball team handed Lancaster its first loss of the season, 24-22 in a non-district win on December 9.

The Lady Red Devils came to Middlesex with a 3-0 record, having defeated James Monroe, Mathews and West Point.

The Lady Red Devils used a press to try to rattle the Lady Chargers, but it was not enough and Middlesex led 18-14 at halftime.

Joey Stinchcomb and Nila Robinson came off the bench for MHS and contributed to both the offense and defense. Robinson and Stinchcomb led the MHS scoring with 6 points each.

Jessica Dixon with 5 points for Middlesex, Bridgette Self 4, Heather Blankenship 2, and Brittin Payne hit a free throw.

The JV Lady Chargers also won at Essex 33-22 on Tuesday to improve their record to 3-0.

The MHS JV and varsity teams will host Rappahannock tonight, December 17, in their final game before the holidays. JV games are at 6 p.m. and varsity games follow at 7:30 p.m.
