JV Lady Chargers are 3-1 in district play

The Middlesex High junior varsity volleyball team swept King and Queen but lost to Mathews on Tuesday in recent Tidewater District matches.
The JV Lady Chargers are 3-1 in the district and 10-2 overall.
Middlesex rebounded from a 10-point deficit in the second game against Mathews, winning 25-21. Mathews won the first game 25-12, and took the tie-breaking third game 15-7.
Against Mathews, Olivia Wilder served for 6 points (one ace) and had a dig; Ashley Lane served 3 points (2 aces), one kill and made 12 digs; Ashley Williams had 3 serves, 3 kills and 9 digs; Bridgette Self had 2 assists and 5 digs and an ace; and Jessica Dixon had 2 serves.
At King and Queen on October 2, the Lady Chargers put together a team effort, winning 25-12 and 25-15.
Jessica Dixon led Middlesex serving at King and Queen with 12 points (6 aces) and had 16 assists.
Ivy Perkins and Ally Sharpe each added 7 points, and Perkins was credited with 11 assists and Sharpe made 2 digs.
Ashley Lane had 5 serves; Kelly Wilson made one serve; Mary Stevens served an ace; and Olivia Wilder had a dig.
Middlesex hosts West Point tonight, October 9, and is at King William on Thursday, October 16, in district games. Junior varsity games begin at 6 p.m. and are followed by varsity games at 7:30 p.m.
