Randolph-Macon senior Jake Fletcher was named ODAC Baseball Player of the Week as announced by the conference on Monday.

Fletcher, a former standout at Middlesex High School, led the Yellow Jackets offensively this week, going 15-for-31 with a home run, 2 doubles and 6 RBIs. The senior infielder (shortstop and second base) also swiped 6 bases and was part of 4 double plays defensively.

During Randolph-Macon’s 16-inning contest with Lynchburg, Fletcher went 4-for-7 and hit a 2-run home run for the Jackets’ first runs of the day. Later he drove in a run with 2 outs in the 15th inning to extend the game.

In a critical doubleheader at Eastern Mennonite on Sunday, Fletcher had a 7-for-9 performance that included a double, an RBI, 6 stolen bases and 3 runs.

The Yellow Jackets finished the week with a 4-1-1 record.

Fletcher is the son of Sharlynn and Brian Fletcher of Deltaville.

As of April 7, Fletcher was batting .345 and had 12 RBIs and 2 home runs this season for R-MC (14-12).
