The Touchdown Club of Richmond honored former Ferrum College football coach and director of athletics Hank Norton with the Ray Tate Memorial Award on December 10 during the Dudley/Lanier Awards Banquet at the Hilton Richmond Hotel.

The Ray Tate Memorial Award is presented annually by the Touchdown Club of Richmond to a person in the Commonwealth of Virginia who has made significant contributions and provided exceptional leadership in collegiate football. The award is named for the late Ray Tate, who spent over 50 years affiliated with the game of football, many of them at the college level.

At the NCAA level, his teams earned four playoffs berths and won South Region titles in 1988 and 1989.
