Golf tourney to benefit Syd Thrift Athletic Complex
June 20 at PRGC
The first Friends of Middlesex County Public Schools Golf Tournament will be held Friday, June 20, at Piankatank River Golf Club (PRGC) in Hartfield.
The public is invited to participate in this “Swing for the Teams” fund-raising event with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m., with a putting contest beginning at noon. Former major professional sports figures will be on hand to sign autographs.
The format will be 4-person captain’s choice with each player required to have at least two of their drives used. There will be hole-in-one prizes on every hole as well as closest-to-the-pin and long drive contests.
Mulligans can be purchased for $10 each, but are limited to two per player. Registration is $500 per team ($125 per individual), which includes golf, a boxed lunch, gift bag, drink tickets, and a post-match dinner featuring a “station buffet” from the kitchen of Chef David Coontz.
During and following play there will be a silent auction featuring fishing charters, John Barber exclusive prints—original paintings and much more.
One does not have to play golf to participate in the meal and auction. The non-golfer price for the dinner and social is $40 per person. For reservations, call 776-6589. Tickets also will be available at the door, but only 150 tickets will be sold.
Sponsorships are now being accepted for the following: hole sponsors, $100; memorial/honorarium garden, $100; prize sponsors, $50 and $100; gold sponsors, $5,000 (payable over two-year option); silver sponsors, $2,500; and bronze sponsors, $1,000.
All proceeds will go toward the new Syd Thrift Athletic Complex fund-raising campaign sponsored by the Friends of Middlesex County Public Schools, a registered 501(c)(3) corporation.
