Golf tournament to benefit Athletic Complex
Registration continues for June 20 event
The first Friends of Middlesex County Public Schools Golf Tournament will be held Friday, June 20, at Piankatank River Golf Club (PRGC) in Hartfield.
The public is invited to participate in this “Swing for the Teams” fund-raising event. Registration will begin at 10:30 a.m., the driving range will open at 11:30 a.m., the putting contest and silent auction will begin at noon, and announcements and a shotgun start will be at 1 p.m.
The format will be 4-person captain’s choice with each player required to have at least two of their drives used. There will be hole-in-one prizes on every hole, as well as closest-to-the-pin and longest drive contests.
Mulligans can be purchased for $10 each, but are limited to two per player. Registration is $500 per team ($125 per individual), which includes golf, a boxed lunch, gift bag, drink tickets, and a post-match dinner featuring a “station buffet” from the kitchen of Chef David Coontz.
The cocktail reception will begin at 6 p.m. and the silent auction will continue. Dinner will be at 6:30 p.m., and the silent auction will end at 6:45 p.m. Awards will be presented at 7 p.m.
The silent auction will feature fishing charters, John Barber exclusive prints, original paintings and much more.
One does not have to play golf to participate in the meal and auction. The non-golfer price for the dinner and social is $40 per person. For reservations, call 776-6589. Tickets also will be available at the door, but only 150 tickets will be sold.
Sponsorships are still available for the following: hole sponsors, $100; memorial/honorarium garden, $100; prize sponsors, $50 and $100; gold sponsors, $5,000 (payable over two-year option); silver sponsors, $2,500; and bronze sponsors, $1,000.

All proceeds will go toward the new Syd Thrift Athletic Complex fund-raising campaign sponsored by the Friends of Middlesex County Public Schools, a registered 501c3 corporation.
