Standout athlete Ryheem Lockley of Middlesex High School has signed his Letter of Intent to play football for the Hurricanes of the University of Miami (Fla.) following his official visit there last week.
Lockley (6’4”, 215 lbs.) is the first football player in MHS history to receive a scholarship from a Bowl Championship Series (BCS) Division I school.
Miami is a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Lockley finished his senior season with 1,034 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns, with 598 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns. He is expected to play either wide receiver or tight end at Miami. Lockley also is the Chargers’ top career scorer in basketball and is averaging 30 points per game this season.
