The Middlesex High School varsity baseball team improved its Tidewater District record to 2-0 on April 9 with an 11-0 win over West Point in a five-inning mercy rule game.

“We collected 14 hits,” said MHS coach Tim Blake. “We got the bat on the ball and got some good pitching from Jake Fletcher.”

Fletcher got his first win of the year as he pitched a complete game with 12 strikeouts. He scattered 5 hits and walked 2.

The Chargers were paced at the plate by Fletcher and Mason Goodrich. Fletcher had 2 doubles and a single and 4 RBIs. Goodrich connected for a 2-run homer, an RBI-double and a single.

Chuckie Morris had 2 hits and an RBI; Keith Whitley and Harley Moore each had 2 hits; and Alexander Crittenden and Justin Copper each had a single and an RBI.

The Chargers are 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the Tidewater District. MHS played Lancaster on April 15, and will travel to King William today, April 16, to take on the Cavaliers.
