Firefighters croaker tourney is Saturday
The 5th annual Water View Volunteer Fire Department Croaker Tournament will be on Saturday, July 20, with the weigh-in at the Waterview Firehouse.
This year tournament officials will weigh two fish and use the combined weight for an angler’s entry. Entry forms and tournament rules are available at Big John’s at Church View and Harrow’s Home Center at Cooks Corner. The entry fee will remain the same at $35 per person.
Another change from previous years is that the firemen will have one or two boats staged at different locations in the Rappahannock River for tourney participants to bring fish to be weighed, tagged and transported to the firehouse.
There will be door prizes drawn at the weigh-in.
For more information, call Trey Blake at 824-3175 or email him at . The firemen also are looking for tournament sponsors. If interested in being a sponsor, please call Blake. All donations are tax-deductible.
In an unrelated matter, on July 13, the Central Middlesex Volunteer Rescue Squad held a Fish Fry at the Water View Firehouse from 5-7 p.m. The UMVFD supported the rescue squad by offering its facility to hold this fundraiser.
