Essex nips MHS JVs

A basket by Middlesex’s Malik Henderson tied the game at 35-35 with a minute to play, and a free throw by Ryheem Lockley gave the Chargers a 36-35 lead with 17 seconds to play, but the Trojans scored in the final seconds to seize the win.
Lockley led MHS with 10 points, Jeremy Rich had 9, Jaspar Smith 8, Henderson 4, Sherman Osborne 3 and Donovan Jones 2.
The MHS JVs also lost two heart-breakers at Northumberland last week. On Dec, 2, The JV Indians downed the Chargers 39-36, and on Dec. 5 the Indians won 45-44.
In the Dec. 2 game, Lockley paced MHS with 15 points, Jaspar Smith had 8, Jeremiah Morris 4, Osborne 3, and Henderson, Rich and Jones 2 apiece.
In the Dec. 5 game, Lockley tallied 16 points, including 12 in the fourth quarter, and Jaspar Smith also had 16 for the Chargers. Morris scored 4, Rich and Jones 3 apiece, and Osborne 2.
The JV Chargers will host Lancaster tonight, Dec. 11, at 6 p.m., and will host Northumberland Saturday, Dec. 13, at 5:30 p.m.
