The Middlesex High School golf team captured the Conference 42 Championship on September 25 at Piankatank River Golf Club with a 374-409 win over Mathews. The win puts the Chargers atop the rankings for the Region 1A East Regional Golf Tournament to be held at The Manor Golf Club in Farmville on Monday, October 6.

The Chargers had four of the six top individual medalists in the 18-hole win over Mathews. Charger Greg Pitts carded a score of 84 to capture the prestigious Conference 42 Individual Medalist Championship. “While I still think Greg can post scores in the mid to upper 70s, in the conditions he played in last week he was as solid as we needed him to be to get the job done,” said MHS coach Greg Harrow.

The Chargers will gain some valuable practice time this week prior to leaving for the regional golf tournament on Sunday for a practice round at The Manor Golf Club in Farmville.

The tournament starts at 9 a.m. on Monday, October 6.
