Ellis and Brown capture 4th places at state meet

The Middlesex High School (MHS) boys track and field team tied for 17th place with 15 points in the Virginia State 1A track and field championship meet held on May 31-June 1 at Rockingham High School in Elkton.

The Chargers were paced by Clayton Ellis who finished fourth in the 800 meters with a personal best time of 2:06.89, and Wyatt Brown with a fourth place finish in the 110-meter high hurdles (16.80).

Neaven Johannsen scored three points in the pole vault with a fifth place finish (10’9”).

The Chargers also scored a point in the 4x800 meter relay with an eighth place finish. The 4x800 meter team was composed of Ellis, Ethan Marshall, Brock Parrish and Johannsen.

Other finishes for MHS athletes included Jaden Reed, 10th, shot put (41’8.5); Marshall, 12th, 1600 meters (5:00.45); and Noah Cannon, 21st, 3200 meters (12:34.96).
