Eighty-six players compete in Boddie Memorial Golf Classic

Eighty-six golfers teed off in the Father John Boddie Memorial Golf Classic on May 9 at the Piankatank River Golf Club (PRGC) in Hartfield. This was the fifth annual edition of the event hosted by the Church of the Visitation, Topping.

With a prayer of encouragement, Pastor Robert Cummins sent forth the players to compete in the “Captain’s Choice” team format. The afternoon competition culminated in a banquet and awards ceremony at the Steamboat Restaurant.

Tournament director Gary Richardson said, “Once again, the community came together for a great day of fun and fellowship in memory of Father John. The series continues to be a success because of such strong support from our sponsors, donors, volunteers, and enthusiastic golfers. We are especially grateful to PRGC general manager Buzz Lambert and his entire team—pro shop workers, course superintendent and crew, and Steamboat Restaurant staff—for their typically superb service.”
