Devils’ air assault dooms Chargers

The Middlesex High varsity football team ran into a buzz-saw of a passing game Friday night as undefeated Lancaster crushed the Chargers 36-0 at MHS in Saluda.
Red Devil quarterback Sedale Mullen passed for over 300 yards and Lancaster scored 3 touchdowns in the second quarter.
On the first play from scrimmage, Mullen fired a 60-yard touchdown pass and Lancaster dominated the rest of the way.
In the second quarter, Lancaster scored on a 96-yard drive, a 21-yard drive, and on a one-play, 47-yard drive in the second quarter. The Red Devils scored one more touchdown in the fourth quarter on a 68-yard drive.
Middlesex was paced by tailback Dale Smith who rushed for 91 yards on 18 carries. Jeremy Rich rushed for 42 yards on 10 carries, and Chris Chamberlain had 17 yards on 9 carries.
Others to gain yards were Davon Baylor, 2 yards on 2 carries; Malcolm Holmes, 6 yards on 2 carries; and Raheem Lockley, 6 yards on 3 carries. Middlesex did not complete a pass.
The Chargers are now 2-3 overall and will open their Tidewater District schedule at 7 p.m. this Friday, October 16, against an explosive West Point team on the Pointers’ home field.
