After a two-week layoff, the Deltaville Deltas returned to action last weekend for a three-game series with the Peninsula Pirates. After falling 4-2 in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader, the Deltas bounced back to win the nightcap 2-1. On Sunday, the Deltas outlasted the Pirates in a four-hour slugfest, 17-14.

With the wins, Deltaville improved to 13-6 overall on the season, and continues to hold onto first place in the Southern Virginia Adult Baseball League standings going into the final regular season weekend.

This Saturday in Deltaville, the Deltas will host their final regular season home game of the year at 7:30 p.m. against the Newport News Cardinals. The Cardinals are in second place in the league standings but in a practical dead heat with the Deltas. Saturday night’s game will prove pivotal in deciding the regular season champion.
