Before winning last year’s league championship, the Deltaville Deltas had not captured a league title in 13 seasons. Last weekend, the Deltas made it clear they didn’t want to start another trophy-less streak again.

Deltaville came through the elimination bracket of the Richmond NABA tournament, and defeated unbeaten Richmond Team Woody in consecutive games to capture their second consecutive NABA tournament.

Despite coming into the playoff tournament as the top seed, the Deltas fell into the elimination bracket of the double-elimination tournament when they fell to the fourth-seeded Tappahannock Tides in the opening round. But the Deltas took the gut-check loss in stride, and went on to win 4 consecutive games in 7 days, eliminating the 3rd-seeded Richmond Mets, rebounding to eliminate the Tides, and then defeating the unbeaten Team Woody this past Saturday and Sunday.

The Deltas finished their sparkling season with a 19-2 overall record, including a 9-0 mark at home. “Our fans are great, and the support we get at Deltaville Ballpark is fantastic,” said Deltas head coach Jerry Crittenden. “Thank you to all of those who made this season happen, and to those who traveled with us to Richmond for the tournament.”
