Down 4-0 in the 3rd inning on Saturday night, the Deltaville Deltas rallied to win a thrilling 10-6 game over the Peninsula Pirates at Deltaville Ballpark.

The Pirates struck for 4 runs on 3 doubles and a home run in the top of the 3rd inning. Deltaville responded with 2 runs in the bottom half of the inning to cut the lead to 4-2.

Deltaville took the lead with a 4-run 5th inning that was started by consecutive hits from Travis Crump, Alexander Crittenden and Connor Henderson. After a sacrifice fly from Josh Martin tied the game, Zach Harris and Travis Myers each knocked RBI singles to give the Deltas a 6-4 advantage.

The lead was halved by the Pirates in the 8th with a solo home run, but Crittenden added vital insurance with a bases-loaded double that scored 3 runs in the bottom half of the inning. Henderson added a sacrifice fly to make the score 10-5.

Peninsula scored another run in the 9th inning.

Crittenden led the Deltas offense with 3 hits, 2 runs, and 4 RBIs. Harris and Myers each had 2 hits, while Scott Crump, T. Crump, and Henderson each contributed a hit.

Jordan Boze earned the pitching win for the Deltas. Pitching in relief, Boze entered the game with 1 out in the 3rd inning, and allowed no runs on 3 hits over 4 2/3 innings. He struck out 6. Bryan Bierlein earned the save, pitching the final 2 innings. Jay Moore was the starting pitcher, throwing 2 1/3 innings.

With the win, the Deltas improved to 3-2 on the season, while the Pirates dropped to 3-1.

This Saturday night, the Deltas will host the 2-2 Newport News Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. at Deltaville Ballpark, and on Sunday they will travel to Williamsburg to play the Pirates at 4 p.m.
