Croquet Club offering classes and league play

The Chesapeake Bay Croquet Club (CBCC) in Hartfield is sponsoring an early spring croquet league for beginner and intermediate level players. The league will start on Saturday, April 6, at 1 p.m. with lessons and games to follow and will continue each Saturday in April. Anyone wanting to learn to play golf croquet should contact CBCC club president, Macey White at or 804-776-9861. The cost is $20 for non-members and the club will provide everything you need. “Now that the weather is turning warm, croquet is a great way to spend a relaxing afternoon outdoors,” said White.

Golf croquet is the easiest croquet game to learn and combines golf putting skills, pool shot skills, and chess strategies in a very social atmosphere. It is a natural carryover sport that can be enjoyed for a lifetime. While not as strenuous as many sports, croquet is a great low impact exercise for both the mind and body. It can be played in doubles format or singles, and women compete equally as well as men. The golf croquet league in April will be all singles play.
