Colts Juniors rally falls short

Last Saturday the Middlesex Colts Juniors (ages 12-14) second half rally came up short as the Back River Panthers of Poquoson handed the Colts a 25-13 defeat.
In the first half, the Colts squandered multiple scoring opportunities to fall behind 19-0.
In the second half, the Colts came stampeding back behind a dazzling 45-yard scoring run by Jared Lawson and a 2-yard scoring run by Jordan Blake. Monte Sutton added a conversion to make the score 19-13 with five minutes remaining in the game. The Colts then attempted an onside kick, which the Panthers recovered. The Panthers then scored a late touchdown to complete the scoring.
In the Mites division (6-7 year olds), the Colts once again showcased their prolific offense by scoring 34 points. However, the Panthers had a bit more offense and won 46-34.
Kalob Knight scored 3 touchdowns and 2 conversions to lead the Colts. Also scoring touchdowns for the Colts were Isaiah Uriri and Xzavion Griffin. Jayden Kidd added 2 conversions to complete the Colts’ scoring.
In other action the Mighty Mites (ages 8-9) were defeated 55-0, and the Midgets were defeated 42-0.
This week’s games are at home in Saluda at Middlesex High School as the Colts take on Williamsburg Green. Game times are as follows: Mites, 9:30 a.m.; Mighty Mites, 11 a.m.; Midgets, 12:30 p.m.; and Juniors, 2 p.m.
