Chargers split two district games

Senior Jeremy Collier pitched a 3-hitter and Andrew Dozier and Chris Blake each had 3 hits to lead Middlesex past King and Queen 10-0 in a Tidewater District varsity baseball game on May 9.

The Chargers loaded the bases in the third inning on a single by Blake, a double by Zach Belcher and a single by Dozier. Kyle Lawson was hit by a pitch to force home a run, Collier had a run-scoring fielder’s choice, and Hunter Davis added a sacrifice fly.

MHS got 3 more runs in the fourth inning when Jacob Lawson walked, Blake singled, Belcher walked, Dozier ripped a 2-run single, and K. Lawson drove in a run with a fielder’s choice.

The Chargers’ final 5 runs came in the fifth inning when Davis was hit by a pitch, John Purcell reached base on an error, Trey Major walked, J. Lawson walked to force home a run, Blake drilled a 2-run single, and Dozier added a run-scoring single.

Davis also had a double in the win.

Collier (3-2) struck out 11 in the 5-inning game and did not walk a batter.
