Chargers host Raiders tonight

The Middlesex High School Chargers opened regular season play last Friday, August 24, with a 47-7 non-district varsity football loss to a dominant Washington & Lee team from the Northern Neck District.

The Chargers only touchdown came in the fourth quarter when Ryan Smith tallied on a 5-yard run and first-year kicker Aaron Akers made the extra point.

Quarterback Logan Snyder completed 3 of 8 passing attempts for 35 yards. Snyder also rushed for 73 yards on 14 attempts, averaging 5.2 yards a carry.

On defense, A. Smith paced the Chargers with 9 solo tackles and one assist; Brown, 4 solos, 2 assists; Landon Norwood, 4 solo tackles; Cole Ruark, 4 assists; and R. Smith, Mike Barney, Reed, 1 tackle and 1 assist each.

The Chargers will host Rappahannock at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 30.
