Chargers capture big road victory over Raiders 32-28

The Middlesex High School Charger football team came away with 32-28 victory on Thursday, August 31, over the Rappahannock Raiders in Warsaw behind a five-touchdown night by senior running back/quarterback Raquan Marshall.

Middlesex jumped to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter as R. Marshall scored on a 1-yard run at the 2:48 mark. Charger kicker Jack Ruark booted the extra point.

The Chargers scored again early in the second period with 8:39 left before halftime. R. Marshall scored on a 5-yard run. Ruark’s extra point attempt was blocked and MHS led 13-0.

The Raiders came roaring back and scored on a 4-yard run with 4:08 left in the half and converted the 2-point conversion. The Raiders scored again with 1:40 left in the half on an 18-yard touchdown run and took the lead 14-13. The Charger defense stopped the 2-point conversion attempt.

With 42 seconds left on the clock before intermission, R. Marshall scored his third touchdown on an 8-yard run and Ruark made the extra point. The score at halftime was Chargers 20, Raiders 14.
