Behind a balanced hitting attack and the pitching of Alex Fitchett, the Middlesex Chargers downed West Point 12-4 Tuesday in a Conference 42 game that lasted almost three hours.

The Chargers struck for 4 runs in the third inning on Austin Cooper’s two-run single, a run-scoring triple by Chris Blake, and a run-scoring single by Adam White.

MHS added 2 more runs in the fifth inning without getting a hit. An error, two hit batters, and two walks produced the runs.

The Chargers put the game away with 5 runs in the sixth inning. Big hits in the inning were a two-run single by Mason Phillips and a two-run double by Fitchett.

MHS tacked on an insurance run in the seventh inning when Kyle Lawson tripled and scored on Blake’s single.

Matt Horne also had a double for MHS.

Last Friday at Mathews, the Chargers lost 8-3 in a Conference 42 game.
