Charger trackmen win nine events at quad-meet

The Middlesex High School girls and boys track teams faced off against King William, Rappahannock, and Lancaster last week in a quad-meet at King William. Boys individual standouts were Greg Robinson, Ridge Ellis and Kaleb Wake.

Robinson won two events, the 110-meter high hurdles (18.61) and the 300-meter intermediate hurdles (48.13). He also finished second in the high jump (5’2”) and triple jump (34’2”), and ran a leg on the second place 4x100-meter relay team (49.32) along with Jalen Morris, Robert Drewry and Trevon Hooks.

Ellis won two running events and a field event. He won the 400 meters (52.9), 1600 meters (4:53) and high jump (5’4”). He also placed third in the long jump (18’5”).

Wake won both the shot put (37’8.5”) and the discus (109’11”).

D’Angelo King finished first in the long jump (20’) and Robert Lemon was first in the triple jump (36’5”). Lemon also was second in the long jump (19’9.5”).

Others to place were Simon Urban, second, 800 meters (2:30); Jacob Self, third in both the triple jump (33’9”) and high jump (5’2”); Drewry, fourth, 100 meters (11.82); Tarik Audain, fourth, 400 meters (59.7); and Brett Fochtmann, fourth, 1600 meters (6:35).

The Chargers will travel to Charles City on Thursday, April 3, to take on the Panthers at 4:30 p.m.
