Charger JVs down Pointers

Middlesex High School JV Chargers

Middlesex broke open a tied game in the fourth quarter and went on to defeat West Point 44-39 in a JV basketball game in Saluda Friday night.

Eighth-grader Ryheem Lockley scored 14 of his team-high 22 points in the second half to pace MHS. Jaspar Smith added 10, Juwan Reed 8, Jeremy Rich 3, and Sherman Osborne 1.

Jamie Wilson poured in 28 points to pace West Point.

On Jan. 20, the JV Chargers (4-1, 8-6) trailed 18-10 at intermission but rallied for a 39-36 road win over Lancaster.

Malik Henderson scored all 9 of his points in the second half for MHS. Lockley had 15 points, Smith 7, Jeremiah Morris and Jeremy Rich 3 apiece, and Osborne 2.

Middlesex is still in the hunt for the JV title and will host King William this Friday, Jan. 30; will visit Colonial Beach on Monday, Feb. 2; will host King and Queen on Tuesday, Feb. 3, in its final home game; will visit Mathews on Friday, Feb. 6; and will visit West Point on Monday, Feb. 9, in its season finale.
