The Middlesex High School boys JV basketball team has six strong returning players on this year’s 13-member squad along with a new head coach.
The returning players are D’Angelo King, Brad Gill, Jacob Self, Chris Blake, Andre Johnson and Marquez Holmes. “We are real fortunate to have a strong returning cast,” said MHS head coach Jason Williams.
Other players on the team are Monte Sutton, Sean Johnson, Carnell Bagby, Jamel Reed, Desmond King and Shakeim Paige.
“We have a lot of speed and I coach toward speed on the floor, so I’m hopeful we will have some success this season,” said Williams.
On Monday, the JV Chargers opened its season with a 46-39 loss to Colonial Beach.
King was the only Charger in double figures with 13 points; Self had 9; Holmes, 8; Paige, 5; and Gill and Johnson, 2 apiece.
The JV Chargers will visit Northumberland on Friday, November 30; will host Essex on Monday, December 3; and will host Lancaster on Wednesday, December 5. JV games begin at 6 p.m. and are followed by varsity games at 7:30 p.m.
