Charger golf team kicks off with a big turnout

The Middlesex High School golf team opened its season Tuesday at the Piankatank River Golf Club (PRGC) in Hartfield, taking on Rappahannock and Northumberland. Head coach Greg Harrow and assistants Wade Traynham, Jock Pitts and James Pitts said they are excited about the large turnout this season and the youth that are showing a positive interest in the game.

During Tuesday’s match, the Chargers fell short to Rappahannock’s 194 by one stroke but defeated Northumberland’s score of 200, shooting a team total 195.

The Chargers will host Essex next Tuesday at PRGC. All nine-hole matches start at 4 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend and watch the Chargers as they press for a very successful season this year.
