CCS hosts Stone Memorial Tourney this weekend
The Christchurch School basketball team will host the John Stone Memorial Tournament on Friday, Dec. 12, and Saturday, Dec. 13. Games are at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday. Competing teams include Christchurch, Gar-Field, Paul VI, and Trinity Christian of North Carolina.
The Seahorses (1-2) opened Prep League action on Dec. 10 against Trinity Episcopal.
Last week the Seahorses won one game and lost two in the Atlantic Shores Tip-Off Tournament at Virginia Beach.
On Thursday, the Seahorses ripped Hanover 75-56 as Mike Gbinije scored 23 points, Caron Williams had 22 and James Ford added 11.
On Friday, a big, strong Miller School team held off CCS 75-64. Williams led CCS with 20 points, Gbinije had 15, and Sam Miller and Noble Cunningham added 10 apiece.
On Saturday, Tallwood downed the Seahorses 99-67. Williams and Gbinije each scored 21 for CCS and Ford had 11.
