Bristow no-hits Drifters

Shane Bristow threw a no-hitter for the Middlesex High junior varsity in a 12-0 win over Colonial Beach on April 30.

On April 28, the JV Chargers downed West Point 12-2. 

The JV Chargers are 9-1 on the season and will host a doubleheader against King and Queen today, May 7, at 5 p.m. at Deltaville Ball Park. On Tuesday, May 12, the MHS JVs will host Mathews at 5 p.m. at Deltaville Ball Park. The Middlesex varsity will then play Mathews at 7 p.m.

Bristow pitched all 5 innings against the Drifters, and allowed no hits, no runs and 1 walk and with 12 strikeouts. “Shane threw a great game,” said MHS coach Jonathan Norris.  “The guys also made a few great defensive plays behind him to keep the no-hitter alive.”

Bristow also helped his own cause by driving in 3 runs, scoring 2, and connecting for a double and a single. 

John Purcell ripped a 2-run home run.

Austin Bushong had 2 singles; Morgan Thomas had a hit, 2 runs and an RBI; John Walsh singled and scored 2 runs; and Kevin Walsh singled and scored a run.

Drew Pitts singled and knocked in 2 runs; Chris Chewning singled and scored a run; and Trey Major and Robbie Pitts each scored a run.

Against West Point, Thomas pitched 5 innings and had 2 walks and 9 strikeouts. Bristow come on in relief and pitched one inning, striking out 2.

Stone Shores was 3 for 3 at the plate, and scored 2 runs and knocked in 3.

Thomas had a triple, 2 runs and 3 RBIs; Purcell and D. Pitts each singled and scored 2 runs; and J. Walsh, Bristow and R. Pitts each scored a run.
