‘Boating Safely’ course Friday at Bethpage
“About Boating Safely,” a safe boating class offered by USCG Auxiliary 62 of Deltaville will be held at Bethpage Camp-Resort on Browns Lane just west of Urbanna Friday, August 22, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, August 23, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The public is welcome to attend.
This 8-hour course meets the basic and minimum requirements for a boater safety course. Topics include: Know Your Boat, Before You Get Under Way, Navigating the Waterways, Operating your Boat/PWC safely, Legal Requirements of Boating, Boating Emergencies-What to Do, and Enjoying Water Sports with Your Boat.
This course is free of charge to the public. Those wanting to purchase the ABS Course Book, the fee is $20.
Many boat insurance companies will offer discounts on boating insurance to boaters who successfully complete the About Boating Safely course.
