Anderson improves singles record to 10-0

Middlesex High’s undefeated Jessica Anderson.

The Middlesex High girls tennis team downed West Point 8-1 Thursday as Lady Charger Jessica Anderson remained undefeated in singles play.

Anderson won her match in two straight sets, 6-4, 6-0, to pace MHS.  Anderson extended her overall singles record to 10-0 and district record to 3-0.

During the first set, Anderson’s opponent won four games. “She then got into her zone and shut out her opponent in the second set,” said MHS coach Pete Shepherd.

The remainder of the MHS singles players sailed through their matches, giving up only 10 of the 60 games played. Melissa Baltrusaitis won 6-1, 6-1; Stephanie Hutton won 6-1, 6-1; Amanda Blake won 6-1, 6-1; Amanda Pruett won 6-2, 6-0; and Mindy Hurley won 6-1, 6-1.

In doubles play, Anderson and Baltrusaitis won 6-0, 6-0; Hurley and Andrea Stevens won 8-0; and Blake and Pruett lost 8-6.

The Lady Chargers (3-0, 8-2) hosted Mathews on May 13.
