Lady Chargers to host Red Devils in opener
Middlesex High varsity softball coach Dave Gabeler said he’s “feeling optimistic” about this year’s Lady Chargers even though the team only has four returning starters. “We will have to replace five seniors who all produced for us last year,” said Gabeler.

Hickey joins Y team as program & facility director
imageThe Middlesex Family YMCA has welcomed new program and facility operations director Joe Hickey. “Ranger Joe,” as he is known to local youth, joined the YMCA team on March 15. Coming to the Y from the Boy Scouts of America as the Ranger at the Bayport Scout Reservation, Hickey brings deep experience to the YMCA.


Youth basketball title games are Saturday
It’s March Madness in the Middlesex Youth Basketball League (MYBL) for a 40th straight year. All three postseason tournament championship games will be played this Saturday, March 18, in the John S. Clements Memorial Gym at Middlesex High School in Saluda.


Local gymnasts earn awards at Wide World of Sports meet
imageThe Xcel Gymnastics Team, sponsored by the Middlesex Department of Parks and Recreation and coached by Amanda Weston and Meaghan Koehler, competed at the Presidental Classic at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida, on February 19.
